Do people in the UK all have hobbies?

When I watch reality TV shows from the UK, like Great British Baking Show and Pottery Thrown Down, it seems like everybody has so many hobbies. Not even just one hobby, but like two or three or even four or more hobbies. They all make cheese, brew beer, sing in a choir, paint, etc.

Where I live in the US there are a fair number of people who have one hobby, but so many people I know don't even have a single hobby. If you ask what a person's interests/hobbies are they might say watching TV, playing video games, going out to eat, or something that isn't exactly a hobby and is more something that most people do at least a little.

So do all people in the UK really have hobbies? Or are the people on Throwdown and Bake Off a self-selecting pool of super hobbyists? And if it really is that common to have hobbies and even multiple hobbies, why do you think that is? Is it a work/life balance thing? Is it a cultural thing?
