Do I need to put a new outlet in?

This outlet has not been working for a while so I bought a non-touch voltage detector. It does not go off when I stick it in the openings of the outlet but it does after I pull it out. There is a green light on it and it will not reset. Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated thank you.
